1. Look at your photographer’s style

Look at your photographer’s Instagram or website for inspiration! You’ll likely notice that a lot of couples they show are wearing similarly colored and styled outfits!! While you should absolutely dress like yourself, if you love your photographer’s work, part of it is likely due to their overall aesthetic, which includes their clients’ outfits. For example, if you love how neutral and soft their photos are, but you wear a bright blue shirt to your shoot, you’re likely not going to get the same result that you have admired so much! This is just something to keep in mind when planning your colors. Same goes for the type of clothes. If you love how carefree and effortless their couples look in photos, but you wear a formal gown and heels, you may not get the photos you were hoping for!!!

2. Neutral colors

Again, this recommendation will vary from photographer to photographer, but I personally love neutral, soft, or deep colors. I think they are ALWAYS flattering and look amazing no matter where you are! Also, try to avoid super busy patterns if possible! You want to keep the focus on you two!

3. One casual and one date night outfit

I think wearing one outfit that’s more casual and one that is slightly dressier is the way to go! For example, if you two were heading to a bbq what would you wear? Make that outfit number one. If you’re going out for a nicer dinner date, what would you wear? Make that outfit number two.

4. Accessories

Here are 3 quick things to keep in mind for accessories.

– If you plan to wear a hat for one outfit, save that outfit for last so you don’t get hat hair.

– When wearing a watch, make sure it’s a snug fit so it doesn’t slide around during the shoot

– Bring a pair of comfy walking shoes. You’ll likely be walking around to different spots and you’ll be wishing you had something comfortable on!
