This Sacramento McKinley park family photoshoot was scheduled by Megan and Pete’s super thoughtful kids!! Megan and Pete met over a decade ago and planned to get married this summer. Due to Covid, they sadly decided to postpone their wedding to next year. But that didn’t stop their kids from wanting to celebrate their love and the joining of their families. Pete’s daughter reached out to me and I was immediately so honored and excited to be a part of their gift!! The kids gifted them the family photoshoot surprise on the Saturday their parents were supposed to get married.
There’s no better way to sum it up honestly!! They were so much fun and so easy going. We laughed like we’d known each other for years from basically the moment I met them. This self-proclaimed modern brady bunch was one of the most positive groups ever. It was truly a dream Sunday morning.
With family sessions, I love to get a combination of posed and candid photos! With this group, I started with the big group photos with two different backgrounds and mixed up where everyone stood. From there, I generally like to break it down into smaller groups. This is when people are generally feeling warmed up and super comfortable.
This family is so tight-knit that it was so easy and natural to get creative with the groupings. A couple of them even asked for headshots and I was more than happy to snap those individual photos too! From there, I spent most of my time with Megan and Pete taking some beautiful couples portraits in honor of their wedding weekend.
We hit it off so much that they literally invited me to join their family brunch after. How freakin’ sweet is that?!!! Megan and Pete are two of the most generous people I’ve ever met. I’m so excited for these two to get the wedding celebration they deserve next year!!
