These Muir Woods engagement photos literally took place above the clouds! That’s right- ABOVE the clouds. It was an absolute dream location with the dream couple! We made a last minute location change from Marin Headlands to Mt. Tamalpais and it turned out to be such a blessing! Any outdoorsy couples looking to take their engagement photos in the San Francisco Bay Area should definitely check out this location!
Not only was it the most perfect sunset, but Mt.Tamalpais is super special to Lauren and Ryan. Lauren grew up nearby and has tons of memories from childhood that include trips out here with family. Nowadays, both of them love to bike ride and hike in Muir Woods together in the early mornings whenever they can! They felt right at home here and already new the locations they wanted to stop and get photos at. We were lucky to get the most beautiful cloud coverage rolling in. The cloud coverage was so thick you couldn’t even see the bay water below. It created the most amazing moody atmosphere. Everywhere we looked picturesque.
It felt like an outdoor move drive-in!! But instead of people sitting in cars staring up at the big screen, people sat on blankets and gazed upon the vibrantly red and orange sun set below the clouds. Although there were quite a few people out enjoying the sunset, there was plenty of room for us to get our own space for photos!
Ryan and Lauren are super giggly, go with the flow, and most of all- adventurous!! They will be tying the knot in Steamboat, Colorado in August. Naturally, their elopement will take place at the end of a two mile hike in the mountains. I can’t even contain my excitement and am so stoked to photograph their intimate wedding in just a few short weeks!!!
